These are some of the performances and dance will be on show every week

  • Lesung Dance is a traditional performance by villagers – typically housewives – that are often found in many Indonesian islands. Lesung Dance is a rhythmical composition created by hitting long wooden pestles against the sides of a giant-sized mortar, as the performers sing songs and make rhythmical movements. This dance is typically performed right after the harvest time, as a way for the villagers to extend their gratitude to God for the bestowed abundance, and also as a wish for health and subsequent harvests.

  • Saman is a dance and singing performance from Gayo Highland, South East Aceh. Many literatures mention that Syeikh Saman, a Moslem cleric, created and developed this dance. Apart from its function as a sermon medium, this Saman performance also serves as a media for education to teach about manner, heroism, togetherness and unity. Saman lyrics and sung poems are in Arabic and the local Gayo language. The Saman performance has been officially acknowledged as an intangible element of world culturalheritage.

  • Solo Aerial Tissue is a type of performance in which our artist performs aerial acrobatics while hanging on a suspended fabric without using any safety rope, relying only on training and skill to ensure safety.

  • Pecut is a traditional whipused for herding cattle. This performance symbolizes masculinity and richness of Indonesia's fauna.

  • Rain Dance is danced by villagers who pray to the Almighty God for the rain to shower in their homeland due to a long drought. The audience will witness real rain falling and wetting the stage

  • One of the things Sumatra is known for is its beautiful handmade textiles in endless colors and patterns known as Songket. In the 7th century, Songket was a highly precious item during Sriwijaya Kingdom in Palembang. In Malay word, 'songket', derived from Sanskrit, means to weave. Songket is handmade with a special weaving device. Songket was once considered a luxurious item, showing a high social status and dignity, and was only worn by the nobility. At its later stage, members of many social circles wore Songket to represent their sense of art. Indonesia has patented some of Songket motives based on areas of origins because nowadays Songket has   developed to become national products widely available all over Indonesia, such as in Bali, Sulawesi and Nusa Tenggara.

  • The elegant all-women dance – modified from the ancient court 'Bedhaya' dance – gives the scene an intense Javanese spirit. The court dance – first performed in the 17th century – was a sacred composition that was originally performed exclusively in the King's Palace. The dancers were all virgins, 7 or 9 in number (the number had to be odd), who had to go through a special ritual prior to the performance. Only the king and his family were allowed to watch the court dance. It was strictly prohibited for outsiders until 1970 when the Palace gave their nod for people outside the palace to learn how to dance 'Bedhaya.

  • The Joglo house is another Javanese cultural identity marker. A joglo house is a traditional Javanese house entirely made of wood – all parts structured according to their respective functions that mirror their philosophical values

  • Dayak is the local name for the native people of Borneo, best known for their majestically beautiful women and their strong belief in and use of ancient magic rituals. They wear typical dresses, complete with enggang (a type of eagle) feathers for accessories. The dance they perform is a warm welcome and friendship invitation from the Dayaknese villagers. The dance movements mimic an enggang's, such as fluttering wings and taking a bow. Enggang birds are extinct now, unfortunately, but their representation in the dance is a reminder of their once famous existence in Borneo.

  • The dance shows Papuans who live in the dense of the jungles, dancing their upbeat tribal dance, allowing the audience to be kindled by its soaring energy and spirit.
